⚠️Appleton confirms second case of COVID-19⚠️
Our Health Department received word Monday, that a second resident has been confirmed to have COVID-19.
The resident is in home isolation and complying with all guidance from our public health department. More information is on our website: https://www.appleton.org/Home/Components/News/News/20908/18?backlist=%2f
We anticipate there are more cases in Appleton than have been confirmed. We recommend everyone continue to follow the Safer at Home emergency order issued last week. Following guidelines from Wisconsin Department of Health Services and CDC will also help slow the spread of the virus.
Pictures of Support
Our Appleton Police Department is encouraging our community youth to engage in an activity to show support for our local nurses, doctors, hospital staff and health department employees.
Parents and guardians can help by providing children with construction paper, poster board or any surface suitable for a drawing. Paint, color or fingerpaint a picture thanking our healthcare workers for their commitment to keeping our community healthy.
When your child has finished their project, have them hang it in the front window for everyone to see.
Take a photo of the project and message it to APD on its page. They will put the photos together and share them in future social media posts.
⚠️Utility Billing Late Fees⚠️
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin issued an order this week that requires the waiving of water utility late fees.
For anyone that cannot pay the next utility bill because of COVID-19 related financial hardship, the late fees on water, waste water, storm water & garbage collection will be waived.
We encourage those that currently can pay their invoices to make those payments by mail, using our outside drop box on Appleton Street or on our website https://client.pointandpay.net/web/cityofappletonwiutilitybilling
For those that cannot pay in full, we encourage you to pay what you can. While late fees are waived, the bills will still be due in the future and reminder notices will continue to be sent to property owners.
⚠️Yard Waste Sites Closed⚠️
Our two yard waste sites will be closed until further notice. Anyone with leftover leaves from last fall, or yard waste collected already this spring, are encouraged to bag it and store it until we do our spring yard waste collection.
We have not yet set the dates for the spring yard waste collection, but we will announce those soon. Until then, store any yard waste in bags and we will collect it in the coming weeks.
