The Common Council unanimously approved a ban on vaping in public places in the city Wednesday. The ban mirrors the ban on smoking in public places, passed in 2005. Like that ban, exceptions were made for existing vape shops in the City.

Starting Feb. 4th, Appleton St. between Lawrence St. and Prospect Ave. will be closed for work to remove the northbound leg of the bridge over Jones Park and build a new northbound leg to realign it with Appleton St. and turn Appleton St. back into a two-way street later this year.
Our communication outreach efforts across all our departments are in the spotlight this week, as our communications coordinator was recognized by a national government organization as one of the most influential people in local government.
As of January 1st, the Blue Ramp located behind the City Center will be closed to vehicles. That ramp has reached the end of its useful life and will be torn down. Parking rates will also be going up for on-street parking.

Who is that taking a picture of your house? You may see one of our city employees taking a photo of your home or business from a city vehicle in November - December. Once every 10 years we update property photos which are used by a variety of city departments including Community and Economic Development and Public Works. The photos are also available to the public and the real estate industry by address at my.appleton.org.
