Suspect Arrested for Robbery in Parking Lot of Business
The Appleton Police Department has taken a suspect into custody for his role in two (2) robberies occurring outside of a convenience store earlier today.
On November 26, 2016, at 12:33 PM, a 911 call alerted officers to a robbery taking place in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 730 E. Wisconsin Avenue. Officers responding to the area were directed by witnesses to the intersection of N. Rankin Street and E. Pacific Street. The suspect was located there and while attempting to flee, was taken into custody. He was brought to the Appleton Police Department for questioning.
Investigation revealed the suspect first approached a 21 year-old female who was pumping gas into her vehicle. She became suspicious of his behavior and locked herself in the vehicle. The suspect repeatedly attempted to access the vehicle while demanding the female give him money. He did not get money from her and she was not injured.
The 17 year-old suspect then turned his attention to a 56 year-old female who was walking through the parking lot. The victim described being overtaken from behind by the man. He demanded her purse. The victim ended up on the ground and fought to keep her purse; until she began to feel the man stabbing at her upper body. She surrendered her purse, then followed him as he left the parking lot.
Investigators determined the victim was stabbed at by the suspect approximately 9 times; with a screwdriver he had armed himself with earlier in the day. The victim was examined by paramedics but did not require hospitalization for her injuries.
The victim’s purse was recovered in garbage cans along the route traveled by the suspect. He had money and the screwdriver in his possession when taken into custody. The suspect confessed to his actions, telling investigators he was trying to get money to return to Milwaukee.
Investigators confined Dorian L. Mosley (M/B, 01/30/99), a Milwaukee resident, at the Outagamie County Jail. One charge of Robbery with Use of a Dangerous Weapon and another of Attempted Robbery are being requested through the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office.
