Arrest for South Side Bank Robbery
The Appleton Police Department has identified the individual responsible for the July 13, 2016, robbery of the Horicon Bank.
At approximately 5:01 PM, on the aforementioned date, the Horicon Bank (100 E. Midway Road) was robbed. The suspect was described as a white male. He did not display a weapon during the incident. He left the bank on a bike; which was quickly exchanged for a get-away vehicle.
On July 21, 2016, an alert Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized the suspect vehicle and suspect from a statewide alert. Following a traffic stop, the suspect was taken into custody. Additional investigation yielded evidence linking the suspect to the robbery.
Kurt A. Windus (M/W, 06/29/79), a resident of Sun Prairie, is currently confined at the Dane County Jail on a Probation Violation. A charge of Robbery of a Financial Institution is being requested for Windus with the Calumet County District Attorney’s Office.
