Green Bay Police Department to Release Investigation Results

On Saturday, May 28, 2016, Officer Wiener of the Appleton Police Department attempted to stop an individual in the 900 block of S. Kensington Drive.  The individual was being sought in connection with two retail thefts from businesses in the area. During the ensuing incident, Officer Wiener and a Good Samaritan, Andrew Maltbey, were shot by the individual stopped by Officer Wiener.  The individual then took his own life.

The Appleton Police Department turned over the investigation of the incident to the Green Bay Police Department on May 28, 2016.  The Green Bay Police Department has now concluded their investigation.

On June 8, 2016, at 1:00 PM, representatives of the Green Bay Police Department will present their findings in a media conference to be held in the lower level training room of the Appleton Police Department.

Following the release of information by the Green Bay Police Department, representatives of the Appleton Police Department will answer questions related to the May 28, 2016, incident.  A copy of the report will be available for media purchase following the conference. Invoices will be sent to outlets receiving the report.
