Burglary Thwarted by Officers and K9
On December 8, 2015, at 2:47 AM, officers from the Appleton Police Department responded to a commercial building in the 1700 block of West College Avenue, to investigate an intrusion alarm. While approaching the building, an officer saw a male party inside the closed business. He was in the area of the cash register when first seen by officers.
With the assistance of the Grand Chute Police Department, officers secured the perimeter of the business. As the male party exited the store, he was given commands to stop. He immediately went back into the business. The suspect was repeatedly told a K9 unit would be sent into the business if he did not surrender himself. Following the warnings, Appleton K9 Eon was deployed into the business. Upon entry by the K9, the suspect surrendered himself without further incident.
Paul A. Rivera (M/W, 10/02/95), an Appleton resident, was confined at the Outagamie County Jail on charges of Burglary to a Building, Resisting/Obstructing, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Non-Narcotic Drugs.
