The Appleton Police Department is proud to announce a new program designed to teach children how to fish, while interacting with officers.

Badges & Bobbers works on the idea of hooking kids on fishing, not drugs or criminal behavior.  It allows youth to meet local police officers in a safe, positive and friendly setting.  This is the first time the Appleton Police Department has held this event.

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, Badges & Bobbers will be held at the pond in Memorial Park.  The day, which starts at 9 AM and ends at 1 PM, will consist of several short presentations by wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and experienced fishermen. Snacks will be provided during the day to participants.

During the event, children will be grouped with police officers and will fish the Memorial Park pond.  Although some fishing poles will be available, kids are encouraged to bring a fishing pole with them.  Bait will be provided by an event sponsor.

The event is limited to 50 youth and will be held rain or shine.

To reserve a spot, please contact Sgt. Leon Fischer at the Appleton Police Department’s non-emergency number (920) 832-5500.  Interested sponsors may also contact Sgt. Fischer through the aforementioned number.

Please contact Sgt. Lund at (920) 832-5509 with questions.
