APD Teams With Silver Lake College for Community Survey

Post Date:06/20/2017 10:30 AM

2017 Survey Cover (2)

A survey to assess the thoughts of our community regarding public safety and law enforcement will be mailed this week.

The Appleton Police Department constantly seeks feedback from the community; however, a true survey has not been conducted for several years. In cooperation and partnership with Silver Lake College, a survey was created to measure and analyze the perception of Appleton residents toward a wide variety of policing issues in the city.  The 43 question survey seeks thoughts on trust of police, views on police professionalism, perceptions of neighborhood safety, satisfaction with police response and exposure to crime.

The survey will be mailed to over 1,500 addresses in the city.  The addresses were randomly generated to ensure coverage of each aldermanic district.  The survey was prepared by Silver Lake College based from an initial survey created by the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of Community Policing Services. The survey results will be analyzed by Silver Lake College and reported to the Appleton Police Department.

The primary goal of the Appleton Police Department undertaking this project is to enhance police service to best serve the needs of our community.  The only cost to our agency is for the mailing of the surveys.

If you would like further information please contact Sgt. Dave Lund at (920) 832-5509.
