Police Seek Assistance with String of Residential Burglaries (posted March 13, 2012)
Over the past couple of weeks, several homes have been burglarized on the north side of Appleton. The majority of the homes are located north of Wisconsin Avenue. Entry has been made by forcing open either a side or back door to the residence. The burglaries have occurred during the daytime or early evening hours.
The Appleton Police Department believes that the suspect(s) are going to the residence and knocking on the door to see if anyone is at home. If no one answers, forced entry is then made. Some large items of property have been taken in several of the burglaries leading police to believe a vehicle is likely involved.
The police are asking citizens to immediately contact the police department at 832-5500 should someone come to their door and provide a suspicious reason for knocking. It is always helpful if you are able to safely obtain a description of the person, vehicle and/or license plate number. Also, notify the police department if you observe any suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighborhood during daytime and early evening hours. If you have information regarding the identity of the person(s) involved in the burglaries and wish to remain anonymous, please contact We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 or email www.we-tip.com
