Valley Transit is pleased to announce the launch of the
Rack-N-Roll service. New bus-bike racks are being installed on all
of Valley Transit’s fixed route buses. Rack-N-Roll service makes
bicycling fun, safe and convenient by providing transit riders the
added advantage of bringing along their bicycle when traveling on
the bus. Valley Transit will unveil this new service at the 2nd
Annual Kevin Kendall Ride, May 20, 2006, 9:00 a.m., Fritse Park,
Menasha.
Chuck Kamp, Valley Transit General Manager, recently had this to
say about the new Rack-N-Roll service, “I think having bike racks
on the buses, especially with fuel prices hitting $3 per gallon,
will make Valley Transit even more accessible to residents in the
Fox Cities.”
To ensure users of the bus-bike rack can quickly and efficiently
load/unload their bikes, Valley Transit staff will provide training
and certify individuals to utilize the bus-bike rack. Valley Transit
staff will be available, Monday through Friday, at the Transit
Center, 100 E. Washington St, Appleton, to certify individuals from
May 22nd through June 2nd between the hours of 7 a.m. - 9 a.m., 12
p.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Use of the new bus-bike racks
begins on Monday, June 5, 2006.
Valley Transit will continue to conduct training at sponsored
events throughout the Fox Valley, but anyone requiring training can
make an appointment at Valley Transit’s Administrative Office
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by calling 832-5800.
Valley Transit is very appreciative of all of Dick Kendall’s
hard work. Mr. Kendall spearheaded the fund-raising efforts from
private donations to purchase and install all of the bus-bike racks.
“There will be those who use this system to go to work, to school,
to the trails, to a friend’s house or to the park. This is a
community builder and represents one more way that the Fox Cities is
simply a great place to live”, says Mr. Kendall.
