VALLEY TRANSIT: News Releases

Valley Transit to hold Public Hearing on Proposed Changes
to Routes 1A-Midway and 9-East College

August 12, 2005

Valley Transit is proposing to restructure Routes 1A – Midway and 9 – E. College and would like to welcome public comment Wednesday, September 7, at 3:00 PM in Committee Rooms A&B, 6th floor Appleton City Hall, 100 N. Appleton St., Appleton, WI 54911.

Valley Transit Proposes the following changes:

1A – Midway would depart the downtown Appleton Transit Center each half-hour at :15 and :45 during peak a.m. and p.m. time periods weekdays, and hourly at :15 during all other time periods, mid-day, evenings and all day Saturday. This is a reduction in service from the current half-hour departure at all times of the day.

Route 9 – East College currently a half-hour route with half-hour service during the a.m. and p.m. peak time periods and hourly service during other time periods, would be expanded to a one hour route with hourly service throughout the day. This expanded route would be renamed and would serve East College Avenue and Town of Buchanan commercial areas. The new route would serve Wal-Mart and Goodwill as it does now. It would also serve the new Valley Packaging facility on Kensington Drive, expand service in the commercial areas south of Calumet St. and on Eisenhower Drive in the Town of Buchanan.

Individuals with comments are welcome to attend the public hearing or can submit comments in writing to Valley Transit Service Changes, 801 Whitman Ave., Appleton, WI 54914. Comments can also be made by phone at 920-832-1629 or e-mail at valley.transit@appleton.org. The deadline to submit written or phone comments is 3:00 PM, Wed., September 7, 2005.
