Valley Transit to hold Public Hearing on proposed changes to Routes 2-Prospect, 9-E. College, 20-Heart of the Valley and 31-E. Neenah.

March 11, 2005

Valley Transit is proposing to restructure Routes 2 – Prospect, 9 – E. College, 20 – Heart of the Valley and 31 – East Neenah and would like to welcome public comment Wednesday, March 23, at 3:00 PM in Committee Rooms A&B, 6th floor Appleton City Hall, 100 N. Appleton St., Appleton, WI 54911.

Valley Transit proposes the following changes.

Route 2 – Prospect Service would be removed from the Pine St east of Outagamie St., from Mason, and Oakcrest east of Prospect, and from Prospect between Oakcrest & Pine. The bus will instead travel from Pine St, Left on Outagamie, Right on Prospect where it would resume published service.

Route 9 – East College Service would be removed from Lourdes Dr, Matthias St and Forest St. west of Kensington Dr. Service would be added to Stoneybrook north of Calumet to better serve the new Goodwill, Pick ‘N Save and Kohl’s.

Route 20 – Heart of the Valley Routing would be adjusted to make permanent the detour currently in effect in Kaukauna south of the river.  The detour reverses the direction of travel from the published route to eliminate a dangerous left turn and improve on-time performance. The detour currently travels south on Lawe, Straight on Crooks, Right on Henry, Right on Glenview, Right on 13th, Left on Sullivan, Left on 10th, Right on Kenneth, Right on Whitney, Left on Reaume, Right on Second, Left on Crooks, Straight on Lawe where it would resume published service.

Route 31 – East Neenah Routing would be adjusted to make permanent the detour currently in effect on Route 31. Service would be removed from Cecil, Higgins and Haylett streets as the bus travels south on Commercial Street after departing from downtown Neenah. When traveling northbound, after serving South Commercial St, the route would travel straight on Commercial St, Right on Haylett, Left on Maple, Right on Cecil where it would resume published routing at Cecil and Higgins.
