VALLEY TRANSIT: Reduced Fare Certification

Reduced Fare Certification

 

eligibility

Riders who are age 65 and over, or who have been certified as having a disability which causes them significant difficulty in using the bus, are eligible for a discounted fare when using Valley Transit fixed route buses. Disabled riders can be certified for this program if they have difficulty with one or more of the following:

  • Getting on a standard transit bus

  • Standing in a moving transit bus

  • Hearing or understanding oral instructions by the driver*

  • Seeing or understanding informational signs*

*Language illiteracy or the inability to speak, read or understand English due to non-English speaking country of origin, is not a qualifying disability.

Identification Requirements

Whenever the reduced fare privilege is used, riders should be ready to present one of the following forms of identification.

No other forms of identification are accepted for this reduced fare privilege.

Fare Payment Options

Rider's who qualify for the reduced fare, may choose to pay cash for their fares, or may purchase a Senior/Disabled 10-Ride Ticket in advance.

Senior/Disabled 10-Ride Ticket

$7.50

Proof of reduced fare eligibility must be presented upon request

The following agencies offer certification and can issue a Valley Transit Reduced Fare Identification Card.
