Aids for Non-English Speaking Riders
To
help our non-English speaking riders navigate the system we have
developed travel cards that can be used in lieu of speaking. The
passenger would simply show a Valley Transit bus driver a card with
the information regarding the desired destination and the driver
would then direct that passenger to the appropriate route, or assist
with making a transfer.
The
system assumes that each non-English speaking passenger has an
English speaking person who can assist them in filling out the
cards. Click here to view a set of printable Travel Cards.
Instructions
for filling out cards.
Print
the cards so your destination is on the front and the diagram of the
Transit Center is on the back. See a Sample If
your destination is not in the pack, simply print a blank front with
a Transit Center back.
Write
the destination address on the front of the card, along with the
appropriate route number. If you need help determining the right
route, please call our office at 832-6100 for assistance. If
using a blank front, follow the same instructions, but please
remember to include some symbol that the passenger can use to
identify the destination indicated on the card.
The
diagram on the back of the card is meant to assist the passenger in
finding their bus at the Transit Center. Signs displaying the route
numbers are posted on sign posts above each parking space. Instruct
the passenger to match the number symbol shown on the card with the
signs displayed at the Transit Center. Parking spaces are arranged
as shown in the diagram.
Circle
the time the route leaves the transit center.
-

-
