Why am I considered a non-resident when I have an Appleton
mailing address?
A resident IS ANY PERSON WHO LIVES WITHIN THE CORPORATE CITY
LIMITS of Appleton. This is not to be confused with being an
Appleton Area School District resident. City and School District
boundaries are not the same. A NON-RESIDENT is anyone who does not
reside within the corporate City limits of Appleton; Grand Chute,
Town of Menasha, Darboy, Greenville, Harrison, etc. are NOT within
the corporate City limits. Appleton mailing addresses do not
automatically mean that you are a corporate City resident.
What swim lesson class should I register my child for when he/she
has had lessons somewhere else?
If you wish to
register your child for swim lessons but are unsure of what level to
put your child in you can either pick up an Activity Guide from the
Parks and Recreation Department Office, or simply link to the
"Activity Guide" on the Department Home Page. In the
Activity Guide you will find descriptions of each swim lesson level
that the Parks and Recreation Department provides. When you find a
level that fits your child's ability fill out a registration form
(see the registration question above). If you still are unsure what
class to sign your child up for, sign them up for the class you
think best suits their abilities. During the first day of class,
talk to the Director of Instruction at the pool and have them test
your child for the appropriate level placement. If you have any
information such as a skills check off card or any proof of previous
lesson experience that could help us place your child please show
this to the Director of Instruction on the
first day of lessons.
How do I apply for a seasonal position with the Parks and
