Wisconsin Avenue from Richmond Street to Ballard Road is
scheduled to be reconstructed in 2011. Underground City utilities
such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main will be
reconstructed in 2010. Private utilities such as electric, gas and
telephone will also need to be relocated in 2010.
The Department of Transportation is the lead agency on this
project and has hired Omnni Associates to design the project. The
proposed project begins at Richmond Street (S.T.H. 47) and extends
easterly to Ballard Road (C.T.H. E). In general the existing roadway
is one lane in each direction with some on street parking and turn
lanes at the signalized intersections. The roadway will be
reconstructed to two lanes in each direction. The signalized
intersections will have two through lanes and a left turn lane in
each direction on Wisconsin Avenue. Some indent parking that was
identified by the Wisconsin Avenue Parking Committee in 2002 may be
incorporated into the design.
Wisconsin Avenue Design Committee
The Wisconsin Avenue Design Committee began meeting in January of 2006. On May 15, 2007, the Committees selected streetscape items were presented at the Wisconsin Avenue Public Information meeting. Those in attendance had an opportunity to review and provide feedback. Based on the results of this meeting, the Committee brought forth their recommendations to the City Council which approved them in July of 2007. See below for committee agenda/reports and streetscape elements.
