The Department of Public Works
manages an annual mini-sewer program designed to control sump pump
discharges that cause street or sidewalk flooding and icing.
Mini-sewers can not be used everywhere due to the need for
appropriate slope and proximity to a catch basin or inlet.
Mini-sewers are installed at no direct charge to residents and are
generally placed just behind the curb line. A lateral is then
run to the sump pump discharge at property owner expense (about
$8.00 per foot).
Our mini-sewer program is announced
annually in the AppleSource. We address complaints on a
priority basis and address all situations prior to the street
rehabilitation program. Any work not completed in a given year
is kept on the list for future programs. Currently, the mini-sewer
list contains over 700 problem locations. Questions regarding
mini-sewers may be directed to Engineering (920-832-6474).
