Special Weapons And
Tactics (S.W.A.T.)
The
SWAT Team, under the direction of Lt. Patrick Geenen, is comprised of a field
team made up of 19 officers and a negotiators team of six
officers. SWAT Team members, although volunteers for the
assignment, are selected for their training and abilities to perform
this additional on-call duty, beyond their regular assignment.

Members
of SWAT train on a monthly basis. The training is
normally a 4-hour session, with firearms proficiency and scenario-based
situations that are designed to mirror potential calls. The
Team is always looking for training sites that add some
elements of realism to the training exercise, such as the vacant
home depicted in the photos in this link:
Team members
also attend specialized training that deals with tactics and
technology, which is offered throughout the state. When they return
from that training, they present it to the rest of the Team.
