Support Services The focus of the
Support Services is to provide support in the area of
hiring, training, professional standards, and general human
resources.
Hiring
On-going recruitment is important to ensure a continued effort in
our search for
viable candidates to fill current or projected vacancies due to
retirements.
Training
The Department took a major step forward with the
implementation of our Department-wide staff development
project. We've brought in nationally known speaker, Dr. Kevin Gilmartin, spoke
to the entire Department concerning "Emotional Survival for Law
Enforcement."
Professional Standards
To maintain professional standards, the Accreditation files are
routinely updated with proofs of compliance provided by many persons
throughout the department. The Appleton Police Department was
successful in reaffirming compliance with Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)
standards after a recent visit from CALEA Assessors.
