Patrol
The Appleton Police Department
adheres to District Team Policing, which calls for the assignment of
officers to four geographical areas in the City.
Considerable
planning went into evaluating a five-and four-district deployment
strategy alternative, replacing the former, 20-year-old,
three-district deployment strategy. As to better advance the
neighborhood driven policing concepts, the four-district model
offers a small geographic assignment for problem solving and
community-relationship building, but doesn't spread resources out
too thin for the reactionary dispatch demands that exist.
- Central District
- Downtown District
- Northern District
- Southern District
Further, under this model, two
captains command the four districts, with assistance from the
assignment of 2-3 lieutenants per district, based
on calls for service.
The number of patrol officers assigned is proportional to the
measured workload as well.
