Bow Hunting in Nature Conservancy (NC) Districts

The City Council passed an amendment to the Discharge of Weapons ordinance (#10-2) that allows for the bow hunting of deer in areas of the City that are zoned as Nature Conservancy (NC) Districts. The ordinance additionally requires hunters to get a permit from the Police Department before hunting in those areas.

Currently, there is only one area in the City that may be zoned in the future as a NC District and that area is located in the Apple Hill Subdivision/Purdy Annexation, however it is currently going through the process to be re-zoned to a NC District and Council needs to give it's final approval.

This proposed area is owned by the YMCA. As with any landowner, they have the right to restrict who goes on that land. Hunters must have permission from the landowner to hunt on their land.

Please contact Lt. Steve Elliott (920-832-5524) with any questions about bow hunting within the City limits.
