The following qualifications and standards are established to insure hiring the best candidates for employment. MINIMUM qualifications and requirements are that a candidate:
Must be a citizen of the United States
Must be at least 18 years
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must have no felony or domestic violence convictions
Must have 60 credits of post-high school education at an approved college, university or technical school
Must pass physical, psychological and vision examinations and a drug screen test
In addition to the minimum requirements listed, IDEAL candidate qualifications include:
Maturity
Good communication skills
An ability to deal effectively with the public
Good character
Related secondary education and/or prior law enforcement experience preferred
Free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that might prevent them from performing the essential job functions
