Qualifications

The following qualifications and standards are established to insure hiring the best candidates for employment. MINIMUM qualifications and requirements are that a candidate:
  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must have no felony or domestic violence convictions
  • Must have 60 credits of post-high school education at an approved college, university or technical school
  • Must pass physical, psychological and vision examinations and a drug screen test
In addition to the minimum requirements listed, IDEAL candidate qualifications include:
  • Maturity
  • Good communication skills
  • An ability to deal effectively with the public
  • Good character
  • Related secondary education and/or prior law enforcement experience preferred
  • Free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that might prevent them from performing the essential job functions
