Ride Along/Job Shadow Program
The Appleton Fire Department offers job shadow/ride along opportunities for men and women interested in learning more about the firefighting career.
A Job Shadow Experience
A job shadow experience can help provide an answer to the question, "would I want to make this job a career?" This opportunity provides a view into all aspects involved in a career and what may be required on a daily basis. You can learn directly from the experts in the field.
What Can I Expect to Learn?
A job shadow experience will help you:- Set goals that fit your interests and capabilities.
- Observe and ask questions in the work environment.
- Relate learning to on-the-job realities.
- See that each job has advantages and disadvantages.
- Observe the importance of working as a team and sharing responsibility.
How do I Apply?
Contact the Public Education Bureau for more information.
We will need your mailing address to send the paperwork. The following paperwork will be sent to you to complete.- Application.
- Liability Waiver form.
- Background check form (for those over 18).
- Informational sheet regarding the job shadow experience.
- Upon receipt and approval of the paperwork, you will be contacted to set up a date to do the job shadow/ride along.
