Once
a year Mayor Hanna visits the middle and high schools of Appleton
with the purpose of hearing what is on the minds of our young
people. While he is elected by those who are of voting age, Mayor
Hanna is quick to point out to the students that he doesn't just
represent those of voting age, but rather all citizens - both young
and old. In his recent visits the students voiced concern
about bus transportation to North High School. There is
interest in the plans of converting the Valley Fair Mall into a mall
for youth, as well as, concern about the possible war with Iraq and
what impact that might have on Appleton. The students that the
Mayor has met with have also voiced their pleasure with the
Performing Arts Center and the newly improved College Avenue.
Information on setting up student visits with Mayor Hanna can be
arranged by calling 832-6400.
