MAYOR'S YOUTH ADVISORY
WORKS
ON GETTING STUDENTS REGISTERED
October 31, 2002
The Mayor's Youth
Advisory Board has begun a project to increase the youth vote in the
Appleton area, focusing on high school seniors. Members from
North, East, West and Xavier High School have put up posters, made
announcements, or sent reminders to those eligible in their
respective high schools. In addition, voter registration
information was included in a newsletter distributed to area home
schoolers. This project will be continued - focusing next on
the spring elections. Through this initiative, the Youth
Advisory Board hopes to get more student participation in local,
state and national government through the most fundamental means.
For further
information contact either Sopen
Shah or the Mayor's office, 832-6400.
