Intercultural Relations Coordinator

Cultural Diversity Calendar of Events

The Intercultural Relations Coordinator (IRC) position was established in 1997 by the Appleton Police Department to proactively address issues in the community that affected the minority populations.

IRC will establish effective relations with members of the minority communities, will develop and coordinate cultural diversity training programs both internally and externally, and will aid in the recruitment and retention of qualified minority candidates.

IRC works with minority community advisory committees. The advisory committees are comprised of leaders of the minority community who volunteer their time by providing guidance and direction in addressing issues important to the community. The different advisory committees work jointly and provide for an open forum where discussion of issues takes place.   The City of Appleton will aggressively address issues that are identified as highest priority by the minority communities.

IRC is affiliated with several diversity organizations in the community.   IRC continues to build relationships and strengthen those already established with service oriented organizations which target the minority populations.
