7. I want to be an alderperson.

The elections for Alderpersons representing odd-numbered districts are elected in the odd-numbered years, even-numbered districts are elected in even-numbered years. The city of Appleton uses the nomination paper process to get your name on the ballot. This means that on December 1 of the year preceding the election you may distribute nomination papers and obtain signatures from persons living in your district to have your name put on the ballot. If 3 or more persons submit papers for the same office, a primary election would be held in February. The Spring Election is then held on the first Tuesday in April. Alderpersons take office on the third Tuesday in April and serve a two year term.
