I Want To

1. I want to find out who is responsible for the tree on the terrace in front of my house.

The Forestry Division is part of the Department of Public Works (DPW) and is responsible for trimming and maintaining trees that are on the boulevard or terrace in front of your home. If you would like to report a problem with a tree, please send us an email. Please be specific as to the location of the tree, including any questions or concerns you would like addressed. The Forester will inspect the tree and will be able to respond to your inquiry within 7-10 working days. If this is an emergency and a tree limb has fallen or is a public safety threat, please call DPW office at 920-832-5580. If it is an emergency after hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday), please call the City of Appleton Police Department at 920-832-5500.

2. I want to apply for a seasonal position with the Parks and Recreation Department.

A list of open positions and an online employment application may be found on the Human Resources Department link. In-person applications are no longer accepted.

3. I want to register my children for recreation programs.

If you have not previously registered with the Parks and Recreation Department, you can do this by completing a Household Information Form. This form along with a Registration Form are also available in the City Guide. The Household Information Form must be completed in order to include your family information into our online registration database. Registration/Household Information forms can also be obtained at our office during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

If you are ready to register online now, click here!

4. I want to get my child on a youth sports team.

Go to the Youth Sports page under Recreation and click on the appropriate form.
Individuals wishing to play youth sports need to fill out an individual player registration form for each sport they wish to participate in.

5. I want to find out why I am considered a non-resident when I have an Appleton mailing address.

A resident IS ANY PERSON WHO LIVES WITHIN THE CORPORATE CITY LIMITS of Appleton. This is not to be confused with being an Appleton Area School District resident. City and School District boundaries are not the same. A NON-RESIDENT is anyone who does not reside within the corporate City limits of Appleton. The Town of Grand Chute, Town of Menasha, Darboy, Greenville, Harrison, etc. are NOT within the corporate City limits. Appleton mailing addresses do not automatically mean that you are a corporate City resident.

6. I want to see what swim lesson class I should register my child for when he/she has had lessons elsewhere.

If you wish to register your child for swim lessons but are unsure of what level to put your child in, pick up a 2011 Summer/Fall City Guide from the Parks and Recreation Department Office, or simply click here. In the Aquatics section of the City Guide, you will find descriptions for each swim lesson level that the Parks and Recreation Department offers. When you find a level that fits your child's ability, fill out a Registration Form. If you are still unsure what class to sign your child up for, sign them up for the class you think best suits their abilities. During the first day of class, talk to the Director of Instruction at the pool and have them test your child for the appropriate level placement. If you have any information such as a skills check off card or any proof of previous lesson experience that could help us place your child, please show this to the Director of Instruction on the first day of lessons.

7. I want to reserve a park pavilion.

Reservations are accepted twelve months in advance of the rental date. Please call our office to check on availability or to reserve a pavilion at (920) 832-5905. We will hold a telephone reservation for five working days after which time the Pavilion Reservation Agreement must be completed with the appropriate fee paid in full.

8. I want to know if a program or sport has been cancelled.

Cancellations due to weather are listed on the Parks and Recreation Information line at 832-3900, Option #1 or as an alert banner on our department's webpage.

9. I want to reserve a pavilion at Plamann Park.

Plamann Park is part of the Outagamie County park system. Please call (920) 832-4790 to reserve a pavilion at Plamann Park or visit http://www.co.outagamie.wi.us/parks/

10. I want to find information on the dog park.

The dog park is located at the corner of Highway OO (Northland Avenue) and French Road. It is part of the Outagamie County park system. Please call (920) 832-4790 for more information or visit http://www.co.outagamie.wi.us/parks/
