I Want To

1. I want to get an application for the Homeowner Rehabilitation Loan Program.

Due to the high demand for this program, the City of Appleton usually accepts applications one time per year (usually in fall) for work to be done the following year.

Click here for a brochure with details about the Homeowner Rehabilitation Program.

2. I want to get an application for the Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program.

Applications are not currently being accepted for the Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program. Due to high demand, the City of Appleton currently has a waiting list for this program. If you own a low-income rental property and would like to be placed on the waiting list for this program, please contact the Housing Coordinator, Laura Roy at 920-832-6007.

3. I want to get financial assistance to make repairs to my home.

The Homeowner Rehabilitation Loan Program and the Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program are the two avenues City of Appleton property owners can take to improve the condition of their homes, duplexes or rental units.

In order to qualify for a loan, you must meet the following requirements:
  • You must be a resident of the City of Appleton.
  • The property must be an owner-occupied single-family residence or owner-occupied duplex and you must reside at the premises for at least 90 days prior to application.
  • Your home must be physically and financially able to be rehabilitated.
  • Your family must meet the Gross Income and Personal Asset Limits and additional requirements.
The loan amount is placed as a lien against your property and recorded with the Register of Deeds. It is repaid in full (no interest) when you sell, transfer, lease or vacate the home.

To view a brochure outlining all the requirements regarding these loan programs, please visit the Community Development Department website.
