HUMAN RESOURCES: Deferred Compensation Plan

Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to participate in the City's Deferred Compensation Program, and may enroll in the program anytime on or after their first day.  Any amounts contributed to the program, which must be by payroll deduction, are paid for fully by the employee.   The following is a brief description of the plan details.

  • Voluntary programs allow employees to make contributions annually up to $13,000 in 2004; $14,000 in 2005; $15,000 in 2006; $15,500 in 2007 to a retirement savings account

  • Option to later use a "catch up" option for those employees who do not start a deduction upon hire or that may not contribute the maximum allowed

  • Contributions are taken pre-tax

  • Contributions only by payroll deduction

  • "Rollovers" (money from 401K accounts) are accepted into this plan
