Fire Prevention Week
2008
Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11, 2008.
This year's theme is around preventing home fires. Our focus will
be on smoke detectors awareness--maintaining them, testing them and
replacing them.
Watch for details about "Reading with Firefighters" at
the Appleton Public Library, our school visit initiative and other
activities.
More will be coming!
2007
Fire Prevention Week was October 7-13, 2007.
This
year's theme was "Practice Your Home Escape Plan.”
This year one of the
promotions we did to get the word out about Fire Prevention Week was
to partner with WVBO, Dominos Pizza and Northside Hardware. We made
several stops in the city throughout the week. Free smoke detector
batteries were given away (thanks to Lee at Northside Hardware) as
well as coupons for free breadsticks (thanks to Dominos pizza!). The
winners of our Fire Prevention prize packages:
Grand Prize: Debby
Smith
Debby won a fire
prevention package and a free pizza package donated by Dominos pizza
and delivered by Appleton Firefighters. See photos of this
event.
2nd place: Richard Girard
3rd place: Vicki Ebelt
Both won fire
prevention packages including fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide
detectors.
Thanks to everyone
who joined us!

We have received nearly 50 posters this year. There are very talented kids in our schools! We have chosen
a winner from each school and an overall winner.
