Real
Estate Taxes
Outstanding balances on 2006 tax bills are considered delinquent
and must be paid to the County Treasurer (Outagamie,
Winnebago,
or Calumet,
depending on where in Appleton the property is located).
2007
Real
Estate Taxes
2007
tax bills were mailed on Tuesday, December 11th. Property tax information
is currently available at www.officialpayments.com
for all Appleton properties and, for those properties within
Outagamie County (Appleton Wards 1 - 7), via the Outagamie
County Treasurer's Office website.
Ways
to Make Your Payments
For your convenience, real estate taxes can be paid by
the following methods:

Drop
off:
A.
Lobby Drop Box, City Center, 100 N. Appleton Street.
Available during all mall hours.
B.
Night
Deposit Box, 100 N. Appleton St. Available 24 hours per
day, 7 days per week.

Via U.S.
Mail (P.O. Box 2519, Appleton, WI, 54912-2519)
Please
note: If
you are paying by any of the above options and would like a tax
payment receipt, please include a self addressed,
stamped envelope and the City will mail it to you. Any applicable refund check will be processed and
mailed within two weeks.

Via credit card online at
www.officialpayments.com.
Enter the parcel number from your tax bill and follow the
prompts. You can also search the database by owner name or
property address. Please note: Official Payments Corp charges a 2.75% convenience fee for all credit card payments.
The City of Appleton does not receive any portion of the
convenience fee.

In
person:

up Window or Lobby, City Center, 100 N. Appleton St. (Weekdays 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, except City
holidays).

Other
Notes Regarding Tax Collection
-
If
you wish to have your payment credited to 2007 for income tax
purposes, your payment must be postmarked on or before December
31, 2007 or be delivered to our office or deposit boxes on or
before December 31st. No allowances will be made for
December 31st falling on a Sunday. Please keep in mind
there will be NO office hours on Saturday December 29 or
Sunday December 30, 2007.

To
avoid lines, mail your payment or use drop boxes at City
Hall. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you
require a receipt.

Complete
all parts of your check and sign it. Make your check
payable to "City of Appleton".

Endorse
all escrow checks. All parties named on the check must
endorse it.

Refunds:
If
you are paying in person with an escrow check and your refund is
$500 or less, you may receive your refund in cash.
If
your refund is greater than $500 or you are paying via US Mail or
one of our drop boxes, any
refunds due will be mailed within 2 weeks.

Installment
Payments:
Tax
bills may be paid in 4 installments, as detailed on the property
tax bill. Due dates are:

There
is no interest charge for payments made on time. A late
payment on any installment, however, will result in cancellation of the installment option and a
monthly charge
for interest calculated from February 1, 2008 on the unpaid balance, as required by State
law.
