• Business Planning Assistance (E-Seed Program)
The development of a business plan is the key tool to starting and expanding a successful business. The City of Appleton supports the E-Seed program, an entrepreneurship training program to assist in the business planning process. A detailed description of the E-Seed program and the registration materials for the 12-week course can be viewed at the E-Seed website, hosted by Fox Valley Technical College. Participants can apply for the
Wisconsin Department of Commerce's Entrepreneurial Training Grant to help cover up to 75% of the program cost.
Classes begin in February of 2008.

• Free Business Counseling for Calumet County
Residents
The
UW Green Bay Small Business Development Center, in partnership
with Calumet County UW Extension and Economic Development will
offer free one-on-one business counseling sessions for new and
existing business owners in Calumet County.
These sessions are offered on the 3rd
Tuesday of each month. Chuck
Brys, Business Counselor with the Small Business Development
Center, will be providing advice on business planning,
financing, marketing and other business issues.
Individual, confidential sessions will be held at the Calumet
County Courthouse, 206 Court Street, Chilton, Room 014.
An appointment is required and can be made by contacting Mary
Kohrell at 920- 849-1450 ext. 3 or via e-mail at kohrell.mary@co.calumet.wi.us.
• Grant for Business Plan - Early Planning Grant Program
The Wisconsin Department of Commerce's Early Planning Grant Program (EPG) helps individuals interested in starting or expanding a business in one of the following industries by providing funding for professional consulting services for development of a comprehensive business plan:
- Automation
- Agriculture/Food Products
- Biotechnology
- Information Technology
- Manufacturing
- Medical Devices
- Paper/Forest Products
- Printing
- Tourism
- Childcare (Does NOT include in-home childcare)

The City of Appleton does not provide any business financing (other than processing Industrial Revenue Bonds or Redevelopment Revenue Bonds described below). • Technology Zone Tax Credit Program
The City of Appleton is a member of the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership Technology Tax Credit Program. The Program provides income tax credits for high-tech business development. See the attached program description for more information on the program.

• Free Legal Counseling
The State Bar of Wisconsin will provide small and emerging businesses throughout Wisconsin up to two hours of counseling from a business lawyer at no cost. The SCORE Association (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is a free business counseling service. A partner of the Small Business Administration, the Fox Cities SCORE Chapter is located at the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
