Planning Services
Planning begins with the creation and maintenance of a Comprehensive Plan. A Comprehensive Plan establishes goals and objectives for orderly growth and future land use by applying sound land use
principles. All land use decisions including, but not limited to, requests for rezoning, special use permits and annexations, must comply with the basic outline and
principles of the adopted Comprehensive Plan. This includes administration and maintenance of the City's Zoning Ordinance. Planners also provide assistance to the
City Plan Commission by performing research and analysis. This
results in recommendations based on the application of the Comprehensive Plan and other applicable ordinances and land use policies.
The Applications page has links to nearly all the applications required for actions reviewed by the City Plan Commission.
The Calendar page provides a
schedule of deadlines for Plan Commission meetings and Site Plan submittals.
The Contact page contains the phone numbers and email addresses
of the Planners.
The Future Land Use Plan Map, which is an important part of the Comprehensive Plan mentioned above, is available for viewing on the
Maps page.
You may also view the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 23 of the Municipal Code) by clicking on the link found in the top navigation bar of this page, and every department page.
