About the Common Council
Sixteen part-time alderpersons
make up Appleton's Common Council. They are elected to two-year
terms, with half of the terms expiring each year. Terms of
alderpersons in odd-numbered districts expire in odd-numbered
years, and terms of alderpersons in even-numbered districts expire
in even-numbered years. Elections are held in April. Each term,
the members of the Common Council elect a Council President.
