Preservation Commission
Jurisdiction
The Historic
Preservation Commission is charged with the "protection,
enhancement, perpetuation and use of improvements or sites of
special character or special architectural, archeological or
historic interest or value."
The Commission is made
up of five members and two alternates appointed by the Mayor and
subject to approval by the Common Council. The Historic
Preservation Commission consists of: an architect, an
alderperson, two (2) historians or restoration craftsperson with
credentials, and a licensed real estate broker with two alternate
members with the above qualifications. The members shall serve
staggered, three-year terms, and the alderperson shall serve the
length of the aldermanic term. Terms shall expire May 1 of
each year.
