Common Council Standing Committees
- The Common Council has created
six standing committees, which meet regularly and report to the
Council for final approval of actions within their jurisdiction.
Five alderpersons comprise each committee, one of whom serves as
chairman. Each committee meets at the call of the chair, but all
normally meet twice each month, in the week following Common
Council meetings. The Standing Committees are:
City Boards, Commissions and
Committees
- The following boards,
commissions and committees are comprised of alderpersons,
department heads, other city employees and members of the
public. Members are appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of
the Common Council, with the exception of the Council
representative to the Boards of Building Inspection, Electrical
Examiners, and Heating Examiners, who is appointed by the
Municipal Services Committee. Each board, commission and
committee meets at the call of the chair.
