UPDATED - 10 year-old Appleton Girl Seriously Injured Following Car vs Bike Accident (posted April 24, 2012)

UPDATE:

The Appleton Police Department has concluded its investigation into the car vs. bike accident that occurred at the Ballard Road / Northland Avenue Intersection, on April 17, 2012, at approximately 6:50 PM. Investigators have determined that the two bicyclists were crossing the road with a red traffic signal controlling their movements across the intersection.

No citations will be issued to the two bicyclists. The driver of the SUV which was involved in the accident will be issued a traffic citation for a vision obstruction because of a large necklace that was hanging from her rear view mirror at the time of the accident.

The 10 year-old girl who was struck continues to recover from her injuries.
