Appleton Squad Car Struck by Drunk Driver (posted March 6, 2012)
On March 5th, 2012, at approx 5:35 PM, an Appleton Police Officer was investigating an accident on S. Oneida St, north of STH 441. He was parked in the inner most southbound lane, with his emergency lights activated on his marked squad car. The officer reported that a car had been stopped behind him, and then while attempting to go around him struck his squad car and continued S/B on S. Oneida St.
The striking vehicle was located at the Kwik Trip store located at Meadow Grove/Oneida St. The driver, a 69 year-old Appleton woman was arrested for OWI-1st offense and for an Unsafe Lane Deviation.
The officer was not injured. The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured.
There was very minor visible damage to the squad car. Damaged was the right rear quarter panel/door area (scrape).
