What is the Neigborhood Program?
The Neighborhood Program is an initiative developed to build bonds and foster communication between City Hall and Appleton neighborhoods. The goal of the program is to strengthen Appleton's neighborhoods.
How does it work?
The Neighborhood Program asks residents of Appleton to register their neighborhoods with the City?
How do I register my neighborhood?
First, meet with your neighbors to define your neighborhood boundaries, create a neighborhood name and identify a primary and secondary contact person. Next, submit a neighborhood registration form to the Community and Economic Development Department. There is not cost to registering your neighborhood.
How do I define my neighborhood boundaries?
There are no restrictions to defining your neighborhood other than a proposed neighborhood boundary cannot overlap with existing registered neighborhoods.
What are the benefits of registering my neighborhood?
First and formost, residents in registered neighborhoods become empowered to strengthen and advocate for positive change in their neighborhoods. In addition, here is a list of other benefits of registering your neighborhood:
• Assistance in organizing your neighborhood and facilitating group meetings • Map and demographic information of your neighborhood • Connect your neighbors and local businesses in your neighborhood • Receive press releases and information on city events, workshops and other valuable educational opportunities from the Community and Economic Development Department • Eligibility for participation in the Neighborhood Academy which is offered in collaboration with Sustainable Fox Valley* • Notification from developers interested in obtaining neighborhood input on projects • Eligibility for neighborhood grants* • Presentation to registered neighborhoods by various City staff

Walter Kalata Neighborhood Pride Awards
Help the City recognize and honor homeowners who have meticulously maintained or have made significant improvement to their property that enhance the neighborhood and community.
HOW DO I NOMINATE SOMEONE?
Select the applicable Award Nomination form, fill it out and submit.
WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?
Only residential properties can be nominated.
Only Appleton residents may submit nominations.
Reason(s) for nomination must be visibly noticeable (exterior only).
HOW DOES THE SELECTION PROCESS WORK?
Nominations are reviewed and final award selections made by a Committee of five individuals which includes two citizens, two alderpersons and one City staff member.
Nominations received by May 15th will be considered for the June awards and nominations received by November 15th will be considered for the December awards.
