Police Investigating Suspicious Fire at Apartment Complex

Post Date:01/18/2017 4:19 PM
Police are seeking public assistance with a fire investigation.

On Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 3:34 AM, the Appleton Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at an apartment building in the 500 block of E. Winnebago Street.  The apartment’s sprinkler system helped to reduce the fire, which was contained to one area on the first floor of the building, before it was fully extinguished by firefighters.

One apartment resident, a 64 year-old male, was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.  He did not require hospitalization. No residents of the 30 unit complex were displaced as a result of the fire.

Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, investigators from the Appleton Police Department were called to assist fire department investigators.

A reward is available for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the fire.

Please contact Sgt. Whitney at the Appleton Police Department (920) 832-5548 with information. If you wish to remain anonymous, consider Text-a-Tip.  Text CRIMES (274-637) with the keyword APDTIPS at the start of your message. You will still be eligible for the aforementioned reward.

For additional information, contact Sgt. David Lund at (920) 832-5509.
