Appleton Police make an arrest in intoxicated bed sharing death
The Appleton Police Department has arrested an individual responsible for the death of their infant child in August of 2015.
On August 27, 2015, at 4:09 AM, the Appleton Police Department responded to 201 N. Story Street on a report of three (3) month old who was not breathing. Despite resuscitation efforts by first responders, a short time later, the female child was declared deceased at a local hospital.
The subsequent investigation revealed a gathering of friends had occurred at the residence on the evening of August 26, 2015. The infant’s mother became intoxicated during the get-together. Later in the night, when she went to bed, she laid in the same makeshift bed her child had been placed in earlier in the evening. The decision resulted in the mother laying on the child during the night. The autopsy listed the child’s death as, “Asphyxia due to overlay”.
On November 18, 2016, with the assistance of the Shawano Police Department, the Appleton Police Department took Keshia M. Waupoose (F/B, 04/06/90) into custody. She is confined at the Outagamie County Jail on a charge of 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide. This arrest had been delayed at the request of the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office.
