Joint Effort of Agencies Result in Multiple Arrests for Prostitution

On October 13, 2016, the Appleton Police Department/Outagamie County Sheriff Department - Community Resource Unit (CRU) with assistance from agents of the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), continued their efforts to hinder and eradicate prostitution and human trafficking occurring within our community. The operation was part of the nationwide effort labeled “Operation Cross Country X”.

As a result of their investigations, twelve (12) adult males will be referred to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office on charges of Prostitution.  Those males range in age from 19 to 54.  Several were from the Appleton area, while several traveled from other parts of the state as a result of the operation.  One male will also be referred on drug possession and resisting charges.
 
Four (4) women, all in their early 20’s, responded to police during the operation. They will be referred on Prostitution charges to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s office.  Three (3) of the women were from the Milwaukee area; one was from the Appleton area. 

Police will be continuing their enforcement efforts on a regular basis by monitoring social media sites, entertainment publications, along with the review of secure and non-secure websites.

Crime tips can also be texted to CRIMES (274-637) with the keyword APDTIPS at the start of the message.
