Arrest for Drive-by Shooting
The Appleton Police Department has arrested an individual responsible for a drive-by shooting on the city’s south side.
On July 12, 2016, at 9:02 PM, the Appleton Police Department responded to the area of Memorial Drive and Aykens Street on a report of shots being fired into a vehicle.
The investigation revealed an argument between acquaintances; which escalated to one person firing a gun, several times, into another car as they traveled southbound on Memorial Drive. There were no injuries to the three people in the victim’s vehicle. The suspect fled the area following the incident.
On August 16, 2016, with the assistance of the US Marshals, the individual responsible for firing the shots was taken into custody at a Milwaukee residence. He was confined at the Milwaukee County Jail. The Appleton Police Department has referred charges of Attempted Homicide and Felon in Possession of a Firearm on Jaymes T. Owens (M/B, 03/05/94) to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office. Owens formerly listed Appleton as his place of residence.
