FBINA PhotoThe Appleton Police Department is proud to announce the recent graduation of Captain Rudy Nyman from the FBI National Academy Program.  He becomes the third current Appleton Police Department officer to graduate from the internationally recognized academy.

Captain Nyman is a 24 year veteran of the Appleton Police Department.  Originally from Ishpeming, Michigan, he currently oversees the Investigative Services Unit, School Resource Officer Unit and Community Resource Unit of the department. In addition to being a graduate of Northern Michigan University, he is also alumni of the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) training.

The 264th session of the FBI Academy, attended by Captain Nyman, consisted of men and women from 47 states and the District of Columbia.  On average the attendees from these states, 21 international countries, four (4) military organizations and eight (8) federal civilian organizations brought 19 years of law enforcement experience to the training.

FBI Director James Comey was the principal speaker at the academy’s June 10th graduation ceremony.  Since the academy began in 1935, there have been 49,234 graduates of the program, which offers courses in advanced communication, leadership and physical fitness training.
