Agencies Investigating Fire Death
The Appleton Police and Fire Departments are conducting an investigation into the death of an individual as the result of an early morning fire.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 6:12 AM, the Appleton Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call at a multi-tenant residence in the 500 block of N. Division Street. Fire department personnel were on scene within several minutes of the dispatch. A fire was located inside the building and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Appleton Fire conducted a search of the residence to identify any additional fire or potential victims. During this search, two (2) individuals were located. One person was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The other individual was deceased.
Due to the fatality, the fire is under active investigation by the Appleton Police Department, Appleton Fire Department and Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations (State Fire Marshal’s Office).
The Appleton Police Department is attempting to notify the family of the deceased.
