Appleton Police Investigation of Foster Court Homicide Ongoing

The Appleton Police Department is continuing the investigation of the homicide occurring on Foster Court on Saturday, June 11, 2016. 

The 43 year-old shooting victim was Jose Gil-Leon.  He was transported from the residence to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.  An autopsy has been completed.  The Appleton Police Department is awaiting the results.

The 24 year-old female injured during the incident was Lidia A. Gil.  She is the daughter of the shooting victim.  She was medically treated at a local hospital and was released on Saturday. 

Both victims were living at the Foster Court residence prior to the incident.  Investigators are aware of multiple individuals being present at the residence when the shooting occurred.

The Appleton Police Department continues to search for Jorge Luis Zendejas-Cano (M/H, 09/27/86) and Miguel Zendejas-Cano (M/H, 01/05/85).  Both individuals, who are believed to be brothers, are considered suspects for the homicide of Jose Gil-Leon. Warrants have been issued for both subjects. Temporary warrants had been issued on Saturday.

Investigators put out information nationally within hours of the incident. On Sunday, the Appleton Police Department was notified by federal authorities of the vehicle of interest (VW Golf) crossing into Mexico at the Laredo, Texas border crossing. It is unknown who was occupying the vehicle, when it crossed the border.  Investigators are continuing to work with federal authorities on this portion of the investigation.

Investigators are also attempting to locate Alejandro Cano (M/H, 03/20/96 – photo attached).  He is believed to have witnessed the incident on Foster Court.
