Reid Golf Course open for 2015 season
Reid Golf Course opens for the 2015 season at 10:00 a.m. today with new staff and some early season golf specials.
The award-winning 18-hole course in the heart of Appleton will be open from Thursday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clubhouse grill will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on those days. The course will be closed Sunday, April 5, but will re-open Monday, April 6.
Carts will not be allowed on the course at this time and the driving range will not open until the week of April 6-12.
Early spring specials are available for golfers hitting the links early this season. Through April 19, golfers can play 9-holes for $14.00 and 18-holes for $23.00.
New faces will also greet golfers in the clubhouse and on the course this year. Jeff Plasschaert will oversee the greens, fairways and bunkers as the new course superintendent and Kelvin Johnson is the new clubhouse manager.
Plasschaert comes to Appleton from Bryn Mawr Country Club in Lincolnwood, Illinois, a northern Chicago suburb, where he worked for the last nine years overseeing several major course renovation projects.
Johnson joins the Appleton Parks and Recreation Department staff from Applied Golf, a Hospitality/Golf Management Company based in New Jersey, where he implemented and coordinated successful marketing practices and played a management role in golf operations at multiple facilities on the east coast.
