Appleton Rd/441 improvements start Monday

Post Date:04/10/2015
A major road construction project is set to affect many drivers on the south side of Appleton starting Monday.

The Department of Transportation says the Appleton Road (WIS 47) and Appleton Road/WIS 441 interchange will close Monday through early July to construct new a new interchange with roundabouts.

Starting Monday Appleton Road (WIS 47) between Valley Road and Midway Road will be closed. The suggested detour route for drivers is WIS 47 to County P (Valley Road/Racine Road); to County AP (Midway Road).

The US 10/WIS 441/Appleton Road interchange ramps will also be closed starting Monday. To get around, drivers can use the Midway Road and Oneida Street interchanges instead.

The DOT says drivers will still be able to access local businesses across Appleton Road at Tuckaway Lane and Drum Corps Drive.
Pedestrians will still be able to use Appleton Road with existing sidewalk and temporary asphalt.

Drivers will encounter temporary traffic signals at the Midway Road interchange to manage traffic during construction.

The construction will widen the US 10/WIS 441 bridges over Appleton Road to accommodate six lanes of traffic. It will also Add turn lanes at ramps and crossroad intersections. Roundabouts will be constructed at the intersections of Appleton Road with eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps.

The DOT says lane restrictions and work operations are weather-dependent and subject to change.
