Weekend Stabbing Results in Arrest
On January 24, 2016, at 1:06 AM, Appleton Police Department officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment in the 1800 block of E. Robin Way. Arriving officers found a 21 year-old Appleton man with a knife wound to his chest. The victim’s brother, who was responsible for the injury, was also at the residence. He was taken into custody without incident.
Officers were told the men had been drinking at a Town of Buchanan restaurant when an argument occurred. The men were told to leave the restaurant and subsequently returned to the apartment complex on E. Robin Way. The on-going argument escalated when the victim and several others refused to leave the suspect’s apartment. While attempting to chase people out of his apartment, the suspect stabbed his brother with a long kitchen knife. The knife was recovered by investigating officers.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, but is expected to survive. He remains hospitalized as a result of the injuries.
The Appleton Police Department confined Appleton resident, Long (NMI) Thao (M/A, 01/23/87) on charges of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Aggravated Battery and Disorderly Conduct at the Outagamie County Jail. Additional charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia are also being requested as a result of the investigation.
